Enlightened is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certified by the following states: Maryland, Alabama, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania as well as Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) by the Government of District of Columbia. We have achieved the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 2 for Services and CMMI Level 3 for Software development ratings. We have used our CMMI Level 3 practices to successfully deliver technical solutions for several local and federal government agencies. Our approach has been, and will always be, to encourage strong working relationships with our partners to support customer intimacy and enable project success. Location, Location: Heritage and upbringing is very importation to Antwanye Ford, president and CEO of Enlightened, Inc. As a result, Ford chose to use his hometown for the company’s headquarters. “I have never agreed with the concept that as people become successful, they tend to move away from the areas that they grew up in. That is simply not who I am. I’m a Washingtonian,” he says. FUN FACT: “I chose Washington, DC, as the headquarters of Enlightened because it was important for me to support the economic growth of the city and the people that helped shape my character.”
Giving and Receiving: Maintaining headquarters in Washington, DC, ensures easily accessible public transportation for Enlightened’s employees and clients who reside in Maryland and Virginia. Since the company was founded in 1999, Enlightened has provided local youths with internships in all aspects of business. The business has also supported a number of charitable organizations, such as the American Heart Association and the Downtown Cluster’s Geriatric Day Care Center.
Lasting Impact: Over the next five years, Enlightened plans to expand its services internationally to Afghanistan and Iraq, where it will work with the U.S. Department of Defense and other intelligence agencies.
